Industrial applications

Loval Oy make heaters for most demanding industrial applications. We tailor make the suitable solution based on the required process data.

Some examples of our industrial heaters:

DN-flanged process heaters
These heaters can be used for heating of air, gas or gas mixtures. Water can also be heated, steamed and superheated. Oil can be heated to make pumping easier or to ensure good lubrication.

Oil can also be a heat transfer medium. Heat transfer is forced convection and Reynolds number can be 1…50000.

Load resistors
Load resistors can be either air or liquid cooled. Cooling liquid is normally water/glycol mixture, sometimes transformer oil.

Air cooled load banks are more simple in technical construction but their size power ratio makes them bigger.

Important specifications when dimensioning a load resistor are:

1. Peak power
2. Operating power
3. Total power during one operating period

Also structural test requirements have their effect on dimensioning. Required air and creepage distance requirements determine the size of the load bank.

If water is used as coolant, its conductivity must be monitored. Water replacement interval must be based on experience. Often the voltage level is so high that the frame must be isolated from the base.
