Some examples of special applications:

Defrost elements
Defrost elements are used in applications where elements can be temporarily immersed in water. Typical examples are chilled cabinets.

Rubber shielded cables are vulcanized water tightly to heating elements. Such connection withstands stress caused by freezing.

Flat elements
Flat elements with cross section 5.5 x 15.5 mm are also included in Loval´s product range. Flat cross section creates a wide contact area which in many cases improves heat transfer.

Flat elements also enable several alternative wiring alternatives. Watts densities are normally 0.5…2.5 W/cm² and a typical application is switch point heating.

Flat elements can also be machine filled which extends the usable watts density up to 5 W/cm². Element cross section is then smaller, 5.5 x 12.5 mm.

Band heaters
Band heaters are suitable for external heating of cylindrical pieces. Heat is generated by standard rod elements that are bent and brazed to the outer surface of a cylindrical metal band.

Power range of Loval band heaters is wide and heaters tolerate high operating temperatures, up to 700 °C. Life time is long as compared to other corresponding constructions.

Cast aluminium elements
Major users of cast aluminium heaters are manufactures of elastomer extrusion machines.

Plate elements
Plate elements are heaters where a standard metal sheathed tubular element is furnace brazed to a metal plate. Elements can be straight or bent.

Elements can also be brazed to a groove machined on the plate surface. This helps to minimize deformation of the plate caused by thermal expansion.

Power electronics resistors
Power electronics resistors are specially designed for power thyristor RC shielding purposes. This construction withstands high operating voltages and high temperatures. Resistors can be mounted on a heat sink base.
