Defrost elements

As the name indicates, defrost elements are used for defrosting of ice in cooling equipment. Their water tight electrical connection makes them suitable for other
applications as well, such as anti-condensation heaters of electric motors.
Challenges
- Heat transfer
- Lack of space
- Water tightness
- Frost resistance
- Material cost
- Material strength
- Installation and operation
- Official requirements
Solutions
Vulcanized elements or elements with nylon plugs with their alternative sheath materials can be manufactured with tailor made tools so that electrical connection can be on both ends or on one end only.
Connection in series of several elements is also possible. Elements can be made to meet with ATEX directive, in which case the watts density cannot exceed 0.09 W/cm².
